LAUREL RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY

P.R. [sic] (Dave) Alford, 63, of Laurel, an employe of the New York Central Railroad, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon [June 2] at 3:15 o’clock and was taken from the train at Kankakee, Ill. A heart attack was the cause of death.

Mr. Alford had only two years more until he would have been retired. He was a member of the Laurel Methodist Church.

A native of Laurel, he was born March 12, 1890 and he was a son of John and Jane Weston Alford. He was married to Clara Geyer who survives with three stepchildren, Noland Cannon of Miami, Fla., William Steffy and Mrs. John Pitcher of Laurel; a brother Harold Alford of Alaska; a sister, Mrs. Edith Kelly of Richmond; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Laurel Moster Mortuary Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. C.L. Rice officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Cemetery….
