Samuel C. Tittle, Sr. was born to Lorenzo Dow Tittle on present day Lonnie Smith Rd., Cannon Co. His mom was Nancy J. Goff - Nancy's mom was Phoebe Wallings. The Wallings were family of Elisha Wallings who came to Cannon Co. via the Cumberland Gap. The City of Walden is named after Elisha.

Samuel had two wives: Sarah A. Lance who died and then he married Tennessee, about 20 yrs. younger. Her dad was Issac Waggoner Smith. They eventually moved to Kiowa County in Oklahoma.

Samuel had 22 children.
