Richard Botkin, father of Hon. J.D. Botkin, died at Wellington last Thursday and remains were brought to this city for interment last Friday. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church, conducted by Revs. Lowther, Jeffrey, Rose and Hyden. Mr. Botkin was seventy-five years old at the time of his death and had been a resident of Kansas for thirty-two years, first settling in Linn county. Twenty-two years ago he located in Sumner county, where he resided until the time of his death. He was a man of sterling character, a good citizen and respected by all who knew him.
