The marriage record for Mary Belle to George W Roberts on 13 February 1893 in Hancock county, states it was the second marriage for both. George's late first wife, Abigail Hatch, was the sister of Mary's first husband, William Hatch. William moved to Kansas, where he remarried about 1898. He raised several step-children, and added 3 more of his own to the group.

Children of Mary Belle Huff and her husband George W. Roberts were Lula May (m. Everett Glenn Reimolds), Hazel T. (m. James W. Twitchell), Lena M. (m. Thomas H. Downey), Walter, Harold, Elmer (m. Edith Marie David), Charles, and Glenn. Son Fred Hatch was not mentioned in Mary's obituary, nor was he reflected in the number of children as given in the 1900 and 1910 census. Fred's Social Security application though listed his parents as William D Hatch and "Belle Roberts", and that he was born in Plymouth. Fred was not mentioned in the obituary of his father, either.
