Mr. Chester Lewis Harris, age 74, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday (August 2, 2015) in Tazewell, Virginia. Born April 15, 1941 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Garnett William and Lola Belle Harris. A lifelong resident of the southwest Virginia area, he was a retired heavy equipment operator with United Coal Company at Big Rock, Virginia. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Harris, three brothers, J.T. Harris, Orville Lee Harris, and Claude Allen Harris, and one sister, Shirley Harris.
Survivors include two brothers, David Harris and wife, Millie, and Robert Harris all of Honaker; one sister, Patty Sue Harris of Honaker; two step-sons, Jimmy Billiter and wife, Florence and Johnny “Bucky” Billiter all of Big Rock; special grandson, Nathan; very special friend, Lorene Casteel; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Steve Perkins officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 12 Noon Wednesday in the Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain, Virginia. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home beginning at 5:30 PM Tuesday.
