Marilyn Lucille Grant, age 78, died Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Born February 9, 1937, in Sikeston, Missouri, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Elmer Eugene Grant and Erma Elmore Grant. A graduate of Vanderbilt Miss Grant taught high school English in Brentwood as well as at Sikeston High School. She also served as a librarian at the Charleston Public Library and for the Scott City Public Schools.

She was active for many years in the Sikeston Community Choir singing alto and sometimes tenor. Marilyn Grant was an active member of the Sikeston High School Graduating Class of 1955 and helped organize many reunions. In addition to literature she loved history, especially the history of Sikeston. She donated her time, sharp mind, and humor; sharing family heirlooms, personal stories, and volunteering countless hours by leading tours at The Sikeston Depot to teach others about this cotton-pickin town.

Mimi, as she was known to the family, is survived by two nephews, E.E. "§Chuck" Grant III with his wife Joan Grant of Sikeston, MO and also Gary Mackley Grant of St. Louis, MO; two great nephews, E.E. "Chip" Grant IV with his husband John Patrick Fogarty Moore of San Francisco, CA, and Bart Allen Grant with his wife Angela Williams Grant of Sikeston, MO along with one great-great nephew, Cooper Allen Grant and one great-great niece, Olivia Claire Grant both of Sikeston, MO. Marilyn is also survived by one sister-in-law, Margie Pease Grant of Benton, MO; four great nieces, Gale Bohannnon with her husband Jeffrey Bohannon and Missy Kraft with her husband Tim Kraft both of Scott City, MO, and Kay Pease-Smith with her husband John Smith and Leigh Ann Keen and Jason Keen, both of Benton, MO.

In addition to her parents, four brothers: Elmer E. "Gene" Grant Jr., Sherman E. Grant, Glen Russel "Bill" Grant, and Donald L. Don" Grant, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held at Ponder Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The burial and commendation service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1010 North Main Street, Sikeston, Wednesday, August 5, at 10 a.m. A reception and light lunch will be served in St. Paul's Parish Hall following the service.

The committal service will be offered graveside at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
