William Russell Castor was the son of William Castor and Margaret Cummins. His parents were married on August 29, 1905 in Jackson County. In 1910 the family was living in Lick Township where father William was a clerk at a meat store. In 1920 the family was living in Jackson City where father William was the proprietor of a poultry store and Russell, 13, was employed as a janitor at a jewelry store.

William married Della M Wyant on November 3, 1926 in Jackson County.

In 1930 William and Della along with children Billy and Carolyn Doris were living in Jackson City where Russell was a painter in an automobile shop. They reported that they owned their home.

Della was the informant on Russell's death certificate. Following his death she and the children living on the farm with her parents at the time of the 1940 census.
