Anthony served as a Staff Sergeant & Tail Gunner on B-17G (#42-102552), 339th Bomber Squadron, 96th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Kings County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 23, 1943 in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Anthony was "Killed In Action" when his B-17, after taking off from from Snetterton Heath, was hit by enemy flak and crashed on Rue Pajol and Rue Ricquet Streets, Paris, France during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

He is interred somewhere in New York.
