Almeda Rose Wilkins was not a birth Wilkins. Reuben Wilkins adopted her. Almeda's true father was Anson Henry Yaple who came to Wisconsin with his family from Pennsylvania in the 1850's. His first wife was Laura Ann Streeter, who died in the Town of Lima, Grant County, Wisconsin on 7/14/1864. After Laura Streeter Yaple died, Anson hired Hannah Dietzman to keep house and take care of his children. Hannah became pregnant by Anson. On the advice of in-laws, Cephas and Roxi Streeter Cushman, Anson returned to Pennsylvania before Almeda was born. Anson remarried in Erie County, Pennsylvania and died there.
