Donald Oscar Rhoads was born in Sedalia, Missouri on January 18, 1932 to Anna Perline (Mettenburg) and Oscar Gustav Rhoads. He was the third oldest of ten children. Donald was married to Katherine for almost 40 years and together they raised their four children. He worked for Wilson Agriculture as a farm foreman for almost 60 years. He enjoyed working with his hands and especially loved woodworking and making wagons. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family on vacations and taking trips to Laughlin. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing and appreciated his collection of guns and knives. Donald was 83 years old when he passed away on July 27, 2015 in Bakersfield, California.
He is survived by his sons Donald E. (Penny), Ron (DeEdra) and Johnny Rhoads; daughter Penny Ann Rhoades; brothers William, Roy and Thomas Rhoads; sisters Elizabeth Patterson, Etta Sue Hoffman, and Mary Ann Henderson; grandchildren Johanna, Darris, Joshua and Donald Ethan Rhoads. He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Anna Rhoads; brothers Henry, Robert and Kenneth Rhoads; and nephew Steven Patterson.
The Funeral Service for Donald will be held at Peters Funeral Home Chapel on Monday August 3, 2015 at 9:30am followed by a 12:30pm Graveside Service at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
