Mrs. Dorothy Finney Estes, 88, of Martinsville, departed this life on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke. She was born in Henry County, a daughter of the late Jesse Ben Hairston and the late Dollie Finney. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Estes; and one daughter, Loretta Marie Hodge.
She was a member of Meadowview A. M. E. Church where she served on the Stewardess Board, Trustee, Missionary Society and the Usher Board.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Naomi Hodge-Muse, of the home, the Rev. Amy Christine Ziglar, of Roanoke, and Rosa Hodge-Musafa, of Charlotte, N.C.; three sons, Lafayette Devon Hodge, of Martinsville, Terry Sylvester Hodge, of Chatham, and Jason Alfred Hodge, of the home; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Mt. Zion A. M. E. Church with the Rev. Henry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens.
