In 1875 Abram and D.S. Mather" built a family vault at the cost of $1.000" See Morrow Co. Ohio History Book published 1880 pages 895-6. The Vault/Mauselum is pictured on the site."A.D.Conklin and Mather 1875, G.J.Conklin Builder, Cardington,Ohio" G.J.Conklin would have been Abram nephew (son of his sister) Mather is Daniel S.Mather married Caroline French she was raised by Abram and Mary Ann Struble Conklin. The Mather's are buried in Maple Grove Cemetery,Chesterville which is south across the field and Highway. As Abraham and Mary Ann can not be found buried else where I am guessing that they are in the Old Mauselum that Abram built. Some time in the late 1940'or 1950's the old iron gate rusted off and it was completely sealed with bricks and the names of thoes buried are sealed in side. Abram Conklin and his friend Daniel S. Mather were members of the Chesterville Lodge and the Mt.Vernon Knights of Templars.Note over the door of the Mauselum is the Mansonic Emblem-a lot of the Conklin's were Masonic members.
Abram Conklin was the son of Nathaniel & Elsie Vanocker Conklin. He was 1 of 10 or 11 children. Came to Ohio in 1837 from New Jersey. Found his full birth date on Rootsweb as Jan 21,1815, all his siblings dates are listed there.
