Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, Farmer City. Robert "Bob" Beckman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, Farmer City.
He was born June 21, 1939, in Farmer City, to Arlo and Angeline Lamb Reynolds. He married Carolyn Joanne Price in 1961 and later married Shawanda S. Wheeler-Neal May 26, 2001, in Bellflower. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Anthony "Tony" (Phonda) Reynolds; one daughter, Angela Reynolds; nine grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Fran) Reynolds; one brother-in-law, Claron (Shari) Wheeler and one stepson, Chad A. (Heather) Neal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Reynolds; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Reynolds; and a son, Paul Reynolds.
Melvin received his bachelor's degree in education from Illinois State University and his master's degree in education from Northern Illinois University. He had been a contractor with Prairie Land Builders, Farmer City, from 1973 to 1979 and taught industrial arts at several area high schools from 1961 to 1994. Melvin was a member and elder at the First Christian Church, Farmer City.
