Funeral services for Anita H. Whitfield, 65, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at the College Church, 332 E. Seminary Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187. The Rev. Todd Augustine will be officiating. Born Oct. 6, 1938, in Elmhurst, she died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Interment will follow services in Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace. Mrs. Whitfield worked for United Airlines. She was an active member of College Church in Wheaton and was an avid runner, having run the Chicago Marathon in 1993 and 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Karie Whitfield; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha Hoyer; sisters, Ruth Johnson, Irene Wighton and Helga Hoyer; and by one brother, Harold Hoyer. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in the Whitfield name, to the church (address above), c/o Nancy Singer.
