Mr. Meeker farmed and was a mechanic, operating his own garage and working for many years for Bones Lionberger. He also was employed by Trenton Foods until retiring in 1972.
He also had been a fiddle and banjo player for bands all of his adult life throughout Northwest Missouri.
Born in Osgood, Mo., on Feb. 18, 1917, he was a member of the Galt Christian church, where he served as a deacon; Galt Lions club and board of the Union Grove Cemetery.
On Feb. 18, 938, he married Helen L. Hamilton in Trenton. She died in 1993.
On March 20, 1994, he married Clara Ishmael in Galt. After his first marriage, they lived in Osgood until moving to Trenton in 1946 and a farm west of Galt in 1962. Clara survives of the home.
Mr. Meeker also was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel D. and Margaret; a brother, Alvia; four sisters, Violet Jones, Vera Ireland, Martha Glidewell and Ina Hamilton; two half brothers, Setha and Sammie; and thre half sisters, Ethel Burress, and Goldie and Mary Humphreys.
Additional survivors: a son, Clitus, Galt; another daughter, Vaughncille Griffin, Trenton; a brother, Eursie, Olathe, Kan.; two sisters, Eula Cooper and Wanda Jones, both of Melcher, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services: Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, Christian Church, Galt, Mo.
Burial: Union Grove Cemetery, north of Osgood.
