Lou Ellen was born in Dierks, Arkansas. She graduated from Dierks High School in 1960 then moved to Waxahachie. Lou married Johnny Cox on August 6, 1965, in Waxahachie. Lou worked for numerous businesses before becoming a homemaker for the past 30 years. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Waxahachie.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Oleta Burt Whisenhunt; grandparents, Mack Duff and Lou Ella (McClure) Burt; five uncles; and an aunt.
Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years, Johnny Cox, of Waxahachie; son, Jesse Cox, of Irving; brothers: Glen Burt and wife, Bettye, Thomas Whisenhunt and wife, Lena, and Bobby Whisenhunt and wife, Janet; sister, Jo Whisenhunt; uncle, Royal Burt and wife, Vivian; aunt, Bonnie Burt; four nephews; four nieces; several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
