Beatrice Anita Howell, age 81, of Fort Walton Beach, FL and formerly of Rome passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 in Fort Walton Beach.

A native of Cedartown. Mrs. Howell was born December 6, 1934 daughter of the late Henry Varnell Spratling and Cora Ivee Holtzclaw Spratling. She attended Floyd Junior College, Georgia State University, and Berry College. She received a masters degree in Psychology and was employed by the Floyd County Board of Education as a psychologist. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her husband Charles Robert Howell on September 4, 1988 and two brothers Bobby Spratling and Al Spratling.

Survivors include her daughter Deborah Leahy; two grandchildren Chris Leahy and Megan Crowell; two great grandchildren Brandon and Maddox Crowell; three brothers Kenneth, Ronnie, and Ricky Shedd and two sisters Glenda Malone and Barbara Hardin.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be conducted Thursday, July 30 at 2:30 in the East View Cemetery with Reverend Ricky Shedd officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 until 2 P.M. at Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue.
