Myrtle Lee Robinson Griffin was born into the arms of Rev. Mose C. Robinson and Mamie Raspberry Robinson on July 30, 1919 in Chidester, Arkansas.
In 1955, the family moved to the Tarrytown area of Gary, IN and had an upholstery business on 17th & Washington and in Michigan City, IN. Myrtle was the seamstress and milliner for many women of the Tarrytown area and surrounding city. The family united with Davis Memorial AME Church in Tarrytown. While at Davis, she served in the capacity of Stewardess, Trustee, Steward, and Missionary until her health prevented her attendance. Her biggest highlight was being named the Worship Leader at the Annual conference. Myrtle was First Lady at Community AME Church in LaPorte, IN and Wayman AME Church in Peru, IN. while her husband pastored
Myrtle leaves her legacy of 2 children, Deborah Griffin-Woodson of Garland, TX; Deidre Griffin Crudup (Donald) also caregivers of Hobart, IN; Step Daughter, Barbara Nell Griffin of Memphis, TN; 1 surviving sister, Sylvia Ruth Brown of Detroit, MI; Sister in law, Alma Robinson of Chicago, IL; grandson, Alan P. Campbell of Plano, TX; grand-daughter, Donyelle Crudup, Grand Prairie, TX; GOD daughters, Rayjene (Anthony) Craft of Richardson, TX; Jane (Gregory) Martin-Calhoun of Kennesaw, GA; GOD son, Dale Cox, of Chicago, IL; niece/daughter Mamie Hudson of Richardson, TX; special nieces, Kim (Gregory) Blackmon of Gary, IN; Monica (David) White of South Bend, IN; special nephews Melvyn Harding, of Memphis, TN; Joseph L. Homegoing services are Saturday Aug 1 @ 11 am with viewing from 9-11am at Davis Memorial A M E Church 4137 W 21st Ave Gary, IN. Rev. Paul Jones, Officiating. Professional services rendered by Guy and Allen Funeral Home, Gary, IN.
