Gene Edwards
(May 15, 1927 - July 26, 2015)

Gene Edwards, age 88, of Ulman, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Lakeside Meadows Nursing Home in Lake Ozark. He was born in Maries County on May 15, 1927, son of the late Joe and Letha (Stokes) Edwards. On May 20, 1946, in Camdenton, Gene married Helen Martin, who survives at the home.
Gene served as a minister in various churches in the area for over 45 years. During these years he officiated over 700 funerals and almost as many weddings.
Gene was a life-long cattle and turkey farmer in the Miller County area. He played music and preached at several nursing homes. Gene was the type of man who never knew a stranger and was always willing to help people in any way he could.
In addition to his loving wife, Helen, he is also survived by two sons, Sam Edwards and wife Wilma and Fred Edwards, both of Ulman; six grandchildren, Jeff Barnhart of Iberia, Tammy Wyrick of Ulman, Crystal Munoz of Ulman, Jill Bomar of Crocker, Simon Edwards of Iberia, and Cody Edwards of Lake Ozark; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl Edwards of Eldon; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois King and Ruth Abbott.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Charlie Worstell will officiate. Interment will be in Gott Cemetery in Ulman.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, at the funeral home.
