John Kennel was born Circa 1797 in Adams County, PA. On Aug 15, 1822 he married Euphemia Brooks at The Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church in Adams County, PA. On June 17, 1823 his son, Joseph, was born. Sadly 6 months later his wife Euphemia passed away.

John later married Elizabeth Livelsberger on Feb 3, 1825. Together they had 6 children, Sara M. (1824-1861), Euphenice Magdalena Margaret (1828-1903), Lavina (1833-?), Elizabeth C. (1835-1919), Samuel G. Kennel (1840-1920) and Anna Mary Kathryn (1846-1925).
