Lucy Maud Montgomery's Father

Montgomery first went west in 1881. The following year he began working for a Saskatchewan co., where some of the time he was their agent in Prince Edward Island. Montgomery settled permanently in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, in 1884.
Mr. Montgomery was a staunch liberal, and he ran, in 1891, for the office of representative from Saskatchewan in the Dominion house.

At the time of his death, Jan 16, 1900, he was Warden of the Prince Albert Jail. He died at West Prince Albert of congestion of the lungs. "One of the oldest and most highly respected residents of the west," he was buried with Masonic honors.
