ELDORA - Ann E. Kramer, 89, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, October 12, at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Eldora, with Father Paul Baldwin officiating. Private burial services were in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Eldora Public Library. The Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora was in charge of the arrangements. Ann was born on October 18, 1917 in Dexter, daughter of Howard and Carrie (Wetrich) Calfee. In 1927, her family moved to Eldora where she lived the remainder of her life. After graduating from the Eldora High School in 1935, she studied at the Kahler School of Nursing, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, where she graduated as a registered nurse. On November 29, 1939, she was united in marriage to Joseph Harold Kramer at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Eldora. Throughout World War II, Ann practiced nursing in Eldora and then devoted the rest of her life to her family and numerous civic and social organizations. She was the first chairman of the board of directors of the then new Eldora Community Hospital and was active in the American Red Cross, United Way, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Monday Club, Mothers Club and numerous bridge clubs. She had a passion for both golf and bridge. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe in 1988; and daughter, JoAnn Kramer in 1994. Ann is survived by her son, Joseph Howard "Jodee" Kramer of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
