Margie Lee Rodriguez, 72, born Sept. 15, 1942, died peacefully surrounded by her daughters at 6 a.m. on July 29, 2015, in the Life Care Center of Pueblo. Margie was born to a hard-working, steel mill family in Bessemer to parents, Connie and Steve Vukelich. She was one of six children. She was a graduate of the first South High graduating class in 1960 and went on to the Colorado State Hospital School for Psychiatric Technicians, where she was at the top of her class. Upon graduating, she held the role of a dedicated psychiatric technician at the Pueblo Regional Center until her retirement in 1988. She was fortunate to have met the love of her life, Nick, early on in life. In 1965, she and Nick were married and remained devoted to one another for the next 48 years before his untimely death in 2012. Margie had fervor for life. Her love for her work made her a favorite among patients and garnered her life-long friendships with co-workers. She channeled her confidence and originality through fashion — from her youth all the way into her golden years — when she carefully picked out outfits and accessories. She loved taking trips with her grandchildren to Denver each summer to stay in hotels and go the IMAX, zoo and dinner theater. Margie had a talent in organization, which made her a master party planner. Her parties and entertaining are something her family will always remember. Through her ability to bring family together, she orchestrated moments that have defined them all. She was preceded in death by parents, Connie and Steve Vukelich; brothers, Stephen and Robert Vukelich; sisters, Connie “Terri” Sanchez and Rachel Montez; and beloved husband, Nicholas P. Rodriguez. She is survived by sisters, Joan Vukelich and Sharleen (Roger) Lamaak; brother, Ronnie (Terri) Vukelich; daughters, Michelle (Mark) Rodriguez and Paulette (Rudy) Martinez; five loving grandchildren, one remarkable great-granddaughter, and countless close family members and friends. A special thanks to the Station 3 staff at Life Care Center, for the wonderful care they gave her. Rosary, 7 p.m. Friday; Mass, 8 a.m. Saturday, both services at St. Francis Xavier Church, 611 Logan Ave. A reception will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church at 701 W. Evans.
