II Corinthians 5:8 " We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."

Don T. and an older brother, Ben, were born in Akron, Ohio when their parents, John Chester and Odell, lived there while working at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. When the boys were small, the family moved back to Chester's home state of Alabama after Chester and Odell had lived in Ohio and Alabama several times. Don graduated in 1954 from Southside High School in Etowah County, Alabama. During the Korean Conflict, Don served as a paratrooper in the US Army, stationed at the United States military base in Newfoundland, Canada. Don lived in Ohio and while working at Goodyear, he met and married Linda Lou SirLouis on August 1, 1960. Don and Linda were just shy of two days being married for fifty-five years. They eventually moved to Etowah County and then on to Shelby County where they have resided for many years. Don and Linda are parents of three children, Mrs. Wayne (Lori Michelle Griffin) Allen, Gregory Jacque Griffin and his wife, Christy and Mrs. Tom (Amber Juliette Griffin) Peterson. Four grandchildren survive, Katherine Anastasia Griffin, Nicholas Gregory Griffin whose parents are Greg and Monica Glenos Griffin and Mitchell Scott Peterson and Brent Thomas Peterson whose parents are Amber and Tom Peterson. He is also survived by siblings, Nancy Sue Griffin Lovvorn, Sheltie Anna Griffin Hortenberry and John C. Griffin, Jr. and sister-in-law, Ann Minton (Mrs. Ben) Griffin. Also, surviving are the SirLouis family, nieces and nephews. Don now is at rest in his heavenly home after suffering with Parkinson's for many years.

I love you, Don T.
