Professional Basketball Player, Coach, Executive. For seven seasons (1968 to 1975), he played at the small forward, power forward and center positions in the National Basketball Association with the Seattle SuperSonics, Chicago Bulls, Buffalo Braves and Atlanta Hawks. He attended Scarsdale High School in New York and went on to play collegiate basketball at Guilford College in North Carolina. While with the Quakers, he established himself as one of the school's all time greats. Selected by Seattle as the third overall pick during the 1968 NBA Draft, he totaled 525 career regular season games. He had the distinction of being a part of Buffalo's inaugural season roster (1970-1971) and experienced his most career production while with the Braves. He topped the 1,000 points-scored mark three consecutive years which includes his career-high 1,591 tally for the 1970-1971 season. Additionally, he achieved all-star status three-times (1971 to 1973). He retired following the 1974-1975 season due to hip ailments and served as general manager of the Detroit Pistons from 1977 to 1978. In addition, he served as head coach of the Detroit Pistons for part of the 1977-1978 season. He also returned to Atlanta and served as assistant general manager of the Hawks. He died of complications from heart related issues.
