She was born October 23, 1934 in Pine Bluff to the late N. M. and Ruth Whitten Shell. She graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1952 and attended U of A at Monticello. She worked for many years in the Banking business. Patsy first experience in banking is when she started working at the NBC Bank in Pine Bluff right after she got out of high school. Soon after that she married Hoyt Johnson and she became a wife of a farmer and moved to Gould. She then went to work at First State Bank in Gould. Later they sold their farm and moved to White Hall and she went back to work at NBC Bank where she became assistant vice-president of her department. After retiring from banking Patsy became manager of Redfield Library. Patsy was a member of the White Hall Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Bank Women, Financial Women International, JRMC Auxiliary, and a Master Seamstress at the White Hall Extension Agency. Patsy was a former member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church where she was secretary of the finance committee. After moving to Heber Springs Patsy became a member of First Baptist Church there where she became treasurer for her Sunday School Class. Patsy joined and became a member of the Heber Springs Extension Agency and did volunteer work at Baptist Health in Heber Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hoyt Johnson; grandson, Matthew Thomasson; and a brother, N.M. ‘Buck’ Shell II.
She is survived by; son, Dale (Donna) Johnson; daughter, Ann (Jerry) Thomasson; three grandsons, Andy and Eric Johnson and Eddie Gates; granddaughter, Kristie Hill; twelve great-grandchildren, Brody Hill, Sheperd Hill, Owen Hill, Schuyler Gates, Bradley Gates, Griffin Johnson, Jacee Johnson, Kailey Johnson, Ryleigh Johnson, Zack Cartwright, Gavin Cartwright, and Lillian Dill; sisters, Natalie Wilson and Gloria Wynne.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday in the chapel of Cranford Funeral Home with Pastor Dub Byers officiating.
