Carolyn Mae Olson (Forinash), 83, of Newaygo, MI, found eternal peace on Friday, July 24, 2015, at her home with family and friends by her side.
Carolyn was born February 6, 1932, to Clyde and Florence (Wilbur) Forinash. She married Frank W. Olson Jr. on August 26, 1952.
She is survived by her four children: Deborah (Terry) Williams of Newaygo, MI; Frank (Elizabeth) Olson III of Woodstock, IL; John (Deborah) Olson of Mundelein, IL; and Judy (David) Carl of Waukesha, WI, as well as her brother Robert Forinash of Lompoc, CA, and former daughter-in-law, Gwen Johnson.
“Grammie” Carolyn cherished her six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Steven Olson, daughter Giana; Christina (Olson) Caravello, husband Jim, son Blake and daughter Kayleigh; Jeanette (Olson) Villatoro, husband Oscar, daughters Celina, Madison, and Skylar, son Oscar Jr.; Johnathan Olson, wife Natalie, sons Johnathan Jr. and Braden; Andrew Mitchell Gallimore Olson; and Daniel Carl.
Besides her parents and stepfather, Carolyn is preceded in death by her sister Beverly, husband Frank, and aunt Rae Wilbur.
Carolyn was active in both school and community service, including PTO and Mundelein Women’s Club, where she presided as President twice. Carolyn also enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid golfer for many years.
Frank and Carolyn purchased the Village Green Golf Course, in Newaygo, MI, in the mid 70’s. They ran the course, along with their children, until selling in 1978. She then worked along side Frank in the shoe import business.
After Frank passed in 1993, Carolyn moved to Wauconda, IL and then finally to Newaygo, MI, where she enjoyed watching the birds at her feeders and the beautiful river.
