Jan. 28, 1940 - July 24, 2015 Rebecca Green McLeod - passed away peacefully on July 24, 2015, at her home in Mobile. She was 75 years old. She was born on January 28, 1940, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Rebecca Gallaspy Green and Bernard Reed Green. Becky was a graduate of Hattiesburg High School and she earned her college degree in history in three years from the University of Southern Mississippi. Becky was President of Chi Omega Sorority and was also named to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. After graduation, she married her husband Andy and shortly thereafter started their family. They moved to Mobile in 1974. She was a member of Dauphin Way Methodist Church. She was much loved by those who knew her. She was compassionate and had a tender heart. She was a tremendous athlete, and was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf. She once played a golf exhibition round with golf great Patty Berg. In spite of being seven months pregnant, her score was three shots lower than Ms. Berg. She was very active in her children's lives. She hunted and fished with her son Andy, traveled the country to golf tournaments with her son Doug, and trailered horses to equestrian shows throughout the southeast with her daughter Becky. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Dr. Andin C. McLeod, Jr. and her children, Andin C. McLeod, III ( Laura ), Douglas Reed McLeod ( Julie ), Rebecca McLeod Schmerbauch ( Ben ), grandchildren, Andin C. McLeod IV, William Patrick McLeod, Courtney Teal Schmerbauch, Megan Suzanne Schmerbauch, Elizabeth Suzanne McLeod, Laura Vaughn McLeod, Grace Alexandra Schmerbauch, Caroline Reed McLeod, great grandson Porter Rhodes Temple, her brother Dr. James Reed Green, Sr. ( Kay ), her eight nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in her name to Wilmer Hall or The Mitchell Cancer Center. A private graveside service was held a PineCrest Cemetery on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.
