Ryan Scott Wilson, 38 of Findlay, passed away at the Bridge Hospice Care Center on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 7:57 a.m. He was born in Findlay, Ohio on October 26, 1976 to R. Steven and Kay (Gonyer) Wilson. His father preceded him in death on November 15, 2014; and his mother, now Kay (Dean) Spitler, survives. He married Mandy Radcliff on July 20, 2015, and she survives, along with step-daughter Madlyn and step-son Bryce Jensen. Ryan is also survived by paternal grandmother Gwen Wilson of Findlay, Aunt Robin (Tom) Styers of Findlay, maternal grandparents Don and Gerry Gonyer of Findlay and Uncle Mike (Mary) Gonyer of Minon, WI. He was preceded in death by grandfather Jim Wilson and Uncle Randy Wilson. Ryan also is survived by a step-grandmother, Annabelle Spitler; step-sisters Elaine Kidwell and Ann (Joe) Stoner; and step-brother Dennis Spitler. Ryan was a 1995 graduate of Findlay High School. Trooper Ryan S. Wilson worked out of the State Highway Patrol's Bucyrus, Ohio's District Office of Criminal Investigation. Ryan started the academy class and became injured and had to resign on April 20, 1998. He then became a Cadet dispatcher at the Walbridge Post in June of 1998. On October 14, 1998, he returned to the academy with the 132nd class and graduated making him a trooper on April 2, 1999, where he began his career in District 1, Lima Post. On October 31, 1999, he transferred to the Findlay post as a road trooper and was awarded the Ace Award in 2001, the Criminal Patrol Award in 2002, and received the Certificate of Recognition in 2008. On November 7, 2010, he transferred to District 2 where he served as an investigative plainclothes trooper for the District 2 office of criminal investigations (OIS); and he received the District Trooper Recognition Award in 2011. On Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., there will be a State Troopers' procession from the patrol barracks to Knollcrest Gardens, east of Arcadia, where a graveside service will follow at Noon with Rev. Richard Ellsworth, OSHP Chaplain, officiating. KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45840 is assisting the family with arrangements. The family offers a big thank you to the Bridge Hospice Care Center for the compassionate and accommodating care offered to Ryan and the family during this very difficult time.
