Mary Neese Lea, 89, of Jamestown, passed away July 27, 2015. She was born June 10, 1926, in Greensboro, NC, to the late Ennis and Ruth Holden Neese. Mary graduated from Greensboro High School and Kings Business School. She served as secretary for the Greensboro Chief of Police for many years where she met her husband, Art, who was an FBI agent. A resident of Jamestown since 1950, Mary was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church and the Fortney Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur ‘Art’ Lea, in 2001; and her sister, Betty Yow. Survivors include her two sons, John Lea of Colfax, NC, and Burt Lea of Oak Island, NC; one step-son, David Lea of Highlands, NC; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Jamestown United Methodist Church, 403 E. Main St., Jamestown, NC 27282, with Rev. Tom Latimer officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the Church. A private interment will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
