Henry H. Wilson was killed in the explosion at Scofield, Utah. This occured on May 1, 1900 then known as Dewey Day for Admiral Dewey (how soon we forget). the town was in preparation for a huge party and dance to celebrate. At 1000 Am every one in town felt a slight tremor. Things changed and for the next few weeks became exceedingly grim as there were 200+ bodies to hold funerals for. It is immeasurable to consider. The towns (Scofield and Winter Quarters)had about 1000 total people and 200 men were dead in an instant. The state of Utah ran out of coffins, more were shipped in. The Hunter family lost every male member, from grandsons to grandpa and uncles as well. The Luomas lost more but a one or two were not underground at the time.

This from Lloyd Evans, 05/06/10.

Mr. Bleess,

I was in Scofield last fall looking for my Greatgrand Father, Henry Harrison Wilson, but never found him. I was on a Carbon County web site and it indicated you had photos of the grave markers of all who were killed in 1900 and buried in the Scofield Cemetery. Do you have Henry Wilson?

Thank you for your help

Lloyd Evans

You are welcome Mr. Evans. I will add Mr. Wilson's middle name to the site.
