Daniel Marcus Meeks
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Daniel Marcus Meeks, age 57, lost his battle with Cancer on Saturday, November 27th, 2010, while at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Robbie Meeks of Kite, GA, and is survived by a brother, Forrest C. Meeks (64) of Oregon; and a daughter, Jessica Michelle Meeks (24) of Spartanburg.
Danny served in the US Army as an Air Traffic Controller. He was the Information Technology Director for Southern States Packaging Company. He was a singer and guitar player, yoga practitioner, biker, fisherman & friend.
Danny was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed backpacking the Appalachian Trail, rock-climbing in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and riding his bicycle as much as five hundred miles per month, but most of all, he loved to jump out of airplanes. The pure joy he took in his pursuit of life and his exuberant love for life will be missed by everyone who was blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Life gathering is planned for 12:30 PM on Saturday, December 4th, 2010, at 349 East St. John Street, Spartanburg. There will be a "spreading of the ashes" on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at 1:00 PM at Skydive Carolina.
