Geneva Hurt Horn Mitchell, 79 years of age of Raven, VA, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015. Born March 10, 1936 in Tazewell County, VA , she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Gracie Davis Hurt.
Geneva attended Gloryland Tabernacle, enjoyed sewing, interior decorating, working outside with her flowers, fishing, reading her Bible, her church and family. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Claude Horn and her second husband Jennings Harrow Mitchell, brothers Junior and Roy Hurt, sisters Viola Clifton and Madeline Keen; special sister-in-law Leonia Boyd.
Survivors include her daughters Patsy Looney, Peggy Horn and Kathy Horne and husband John, Jr. all of Raven, VA; son Randy Horn of Vansant, VA; sisters Mary Henderson of Mouthcard, KY, Gay White and husband Jay of Clarkesville, TN, Dolly Nichols of Richlands, VA, Carol Hurt of Mouthcard, KY; brothers Fred Hurt and wife June of Clifton Fork, VA, Clayton Hurt and wife Marie of Paintlick, VA; brother-in-law Estil Keen.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Thomas Horne and wife Amy, Matthew Horne and wife Kimberly, Nikki Counts and husband Patrick, Aimee Hinkle and husband Dwayne; great-grandchildren: Hannah Counts, Gavin Counts, Alyssa Hinkle, Duncan Hinkle and Maximus Hinkle; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Geneva Mitchell will be conducted at the Gloryland Tabernacle, Shortts Gap, VA, Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Smith and Brother Boyd Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery, Keen Mountain, VA.
Active pallbearers will be her family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Gloryland Tabernacle, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 after 6:00 p.m. where evening service will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
