Randy D. Schroeder, 53, of Cozad, received his wings Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Cozad Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday at First Christian Church in Elm Creek. Pastor Eric Most will officiate. Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Chapel in Elm Creek is in charge of the arrangements.

Randy Dean Schroeder was born on February 14, 1962 in Kearney, Nebraska to Edward and Iva (Parks) Schroeder. He grew up and received his education in Elm Creek.

He was united in marriage to Kathy Hargett on April 7, 1990 at First Christian Church in Elm Creek.

Throughout his life Randy drove a truck for several farmers and businesses in central Nebraska. In 2000 he moved to Cozad where he worked for Geiger Farms until 2008. He continued to live on the farm and was its caretaker until the time of his death. Randy also worked for the All Points Cooperative each spring.

He was baptized at First Christian Church in Elm Creek and was currently a member of The Crossing Fellowship in Cozad. Randy never met a stranger and could always strike up a conversation with those around him. He enjoyed collecting hats, attending family reunions, and playing basketball and softball. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandson, Easton.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Cozad; a daughter, Molly Ellison and her husband Landon of Gothenburg; two grandchildren, Easton and Madison Ellison of Gothenburg; two stepsons, Eric Dodson and Jason Dodson of Cozad; a stepdaughter, Tammy Linden and her family of Kearney; three brothers, Robert Schroeder and his wife Betty of Holdrege, Ben Schroeder and his wife Brenda of Elm Creek and Mark Schroeder and his wife Cindy of Elm Creek; a sister, Jean Moore and her husband Calvin of Elm Creek; a sister-in-law, Vickie Schroeder of Elm Creek; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Roger Johnston, Sr., a brother, Andrew Schroeder, and a nephew, Ryan Johnston.
