Jack Dangerfield, age 97, of East Millcreek, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2015.
Jack was born June 18, 1918 in Salt Lake City to Benjamin Stephen Dangerfield and Carrie Yates Dangerfield. He was the youngest of four siblings.
He married Virginia Ruth Green in Salt Lake on September 1, 1938. Virginia passed away in 2004. They were married for sixty-six years.
Jack spent most of his working career with Chevron Oil as an accountant. He retired in 1976 and became a master fisherman and master gardener. He and Virginia spent many happy days at their cabin in the Uinta Mountains.
Jack and Virginia were active servants of the Lord. Jack served in three bishoprics, twice as the bishop. While a counselor in the bishopric, he led the effort to build the Garden Heights Ward Building.
He was always an active missionary and helped activate many members who were disaffected. He served formal missions in Chile, Mexico, Salt Lake City, and Temple Square. In Mexico, he served as Counselor to the Mission President.
He was an active genealogist, and attended the Temple often. One of his favorite callings was with the Boy Scouts. For his dedicated service to these young men, he was awarded the Silver Beaver. In short, Jack served the Lord in strengthening the Kingdom of God.
Jack was a warm and caring man who made friends wherever he went. He always had a smile for everyone and had a positive influence on many people's lives.
Survivors include sons, Stephen (Linda) and Byron (Marilyn); daughter-in-law, Vicki; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; son, Randy Dangerfield; parents, and siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden Heights Ward Chapel, 2220 East Fisher Lane (2935 South), where friends may call prior between 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
