MORRISTOWN - Kenneth Kyle Givens, 53, of Morristown, died Sunday.

Mr. Givens was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, where he received a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and a master's degree in administration and supervision.

He was a teacher and principal for more than 20 years and during that time was elected to serve as Hancock County School Superintendent for two terms.

Mr. Givens had more recently been an employee of Palm Harbor Homes in Jefferson City.

His family noted, "He accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a child and had continued in the faith. He was an active member of Lakemoore Church of God of Prophecy. He has now gone home to be with his Savior.

"He had a passion for living and loved to see the world open in a child's eyes and enjoyed working with children."

Survivors include his wife: Anne Rene Givens; a daughter: Kimberly Suzanne Givens of Johnson City; a brother: Billy Ray Givens of Knoxville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Givens was a son of the late Kyle "Sonny" and Frances Givens and was preceded in death by a daughter: Jennifer Leigh Givens.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Robert Carpenter and Pastor Brian Courtney will officiate.

Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
