My Great, Great Grandfather

James was the son of John and Agnes Cain, presumed immigrants from Northern Ireland who settled near Hookstown, Beaver County, PA. James was a soldier in the War of 1812. His first wife was Mary Ann Green with whom he had four sons, Thomas, John, William and Samuel. His second wife was Nancy Agnes McElhaney who he married on December 20, 1820. They had eight children, three of whom, Mary Anna, James Sterling and Presley Martin, we know survived to adulthood and had issue. James and Nancy Agnes moved to Meigs County, Ohio sometime between 1840 and 1850, where they owned a small farm. After his death, Agnes remarried to Isaac Postlewaite and later moved west to Iowa and Missouri where she married for a third time to James Bailey. She died and is buried in Atchison County, MO.
