Jessica was born November 16, 1981, in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii to Louis and Laurie Lopes. She was a vibrant, loving, and kind individual who loved children and teaching. She was a selfless, devoted daughter and wife who always cared for others before herself.
Jessica’s life was too short, and those who were touched by her love understand the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her infectious smile, love of God, devotion to her husband, and desire to help others best represent her time on earth.
Jessica graduated in 1999 from Seabury Hall School in Maui, Hawaii and from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. As a teacher at Windward Nazarene Academy, she met Darin Brook, a fellow teacher, whom she married in 2007. She recently worked at the Alamo Community College in Universal City, Texas. Her interests included family, gardening, and reading.
Her husband, Darin Brook, survived Jessica by 7 days. Jessica was survived by her loving parents, Louie and Laurie Lopes; sister, Jaymee; brothers Jeremy and Jordan; niece Kaylee; Grandmother Lopes and Grandmother Brooks, as well as her Brook family in Texas and extended Hawaiian family.
