Edward was born on March 27, 1926, in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late Ray and Pearl (O'Brien) Swardson.
Edward was a United States Marine serving in the Pacific and China during WW II.
He married Joeann Shipman in St. Joseph on June, 14, 1952.
Ed was a member of the Lithographer's Union and worked for Cookman Printing. He loved to cook, garden, growing his own plants from seed. He was also an avid chess player. His biggest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Swardson and brother Raymond Swardson.
Surviving family includes wife Joeann Swardson of the home, children Gregg Swardson (Martha), St. Joseph, Missouri, Patricia Carter (Mark), Topeka, Kansas, and Barbara Johnson (Rolla) St. Joseph, Missouri; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Per Mr. Swardson's wishes, he will be cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph
