Cyrsey Ann Nesmith , daughter of Joseph T and Jenny Truscott Nesmith was born in Van Buren County, Iowa, October 28, 1860 and passed away April 23, at 12:15 a.m. at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 16 days. She was converted to Christianity early in life and settled with the Methodist Protestant Church. She was always loyal to her faith and to her church. Recently she transferred her church membership to the Methodist Church. At the age of 19 she was married to Orren Webster Jordan who preceded her in death on June 13m 1935. To this union were born nine children, they are: Roxie, at home, Jessie who passed away in infancy, Mrs. Edward Stahl (Ethel) , Lester, Sylvia (Mrs. Harley Cover), Edna (Mrs. H G Powers) Edith (Mrs. Tunis DeBont), Everett, and Dorothy (Mrs. Raymond Merck). All of the children live near the old home, except Mrs. Powers, who lives in Wisconsin. There are 25 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud. Mrs. Jordan was the last of her parents' family. She lived the kind of life that speaks for itself and that lives on in the lives of others, who have come under her influence. She lived near to Christ, her laws were kindness, purity, and love. With these she governed her life. To know her was to know Christ better, because of her love for him. Even through her long illness, she loved the quiet moments, at which time she would listen to the reading of the word and the prayers of her family daily. She was always deeply concerned about the support of the Gospel ministry to the end of her earthly career. She was indeed an ideal mother, a loving grandmother and a sympathetic neighbor. On Thursday morning she slipped away from this earth to the heavenly home where she has joined those loved ones gone on before. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev John A Harp at the Community Church, in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends. The body bearers were six of her grandsons, Leslie Jordan, Dale Jones, Eugene Merck, Harold Stahl, Milton DeBont and Harley Cover Jr. The body was placed in the Community Cemetery to await the resurrection of the just. The profession of flowers which covered the grave, spoke of the high esteem with which she was held.
