Shirley E. Farrand, of Elton, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 with her family by her side at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born on April 24, 1941 in Elton, a daughter of the late Evert and Annie Adkins. She married Emery P. Farrand on September 27, 1958 in Mukwonago. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1995.

She attended White Lake High School.
Mrs. Farrand had a great sense of humor and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching. She was modest of her great talents. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Michelle (Jim) Theiler, Wausau; a son, Terry (Tami) Farrand, Byron, IL; a brother, Lawrence (Cleo) Adkins, Antigo; six grandchildren, Turner and Taryn Farrand, Kacy and Scot Wickersheim, Jordan and Megan Theiler; three great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Gail, Elton.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilburn, James, Edward and Roy; and two sisters, Jannett Adkins and Phoebe Whitt.

According to Mrs. Farrand's wishes a graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Elton Cemetery with Reverend Marvin Kindle officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the cancer research foundation of the donor's choice.

The family would like to give a sincere thank you to the medical staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for their excellent care.
