Memorials services for Dr. Nathalie K. Mankell, 91, a former Buffalo and East Aurora resident and pioneer in physical education for women, were held yesterday in First Presbyterian Church, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The body is enroute to East Aurora for burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Dr. Mankell died Monday in Ft. Lauderdale Hospital.
A native of Finland, Dr. Mankell lectured on physical education in the University of Buffalo and other schools here. Although a 1911 graduate of the University of Buffalo School of Medicine, she did not practice medicine.
Her husband, Gustav C Mankell was a commercial artist for the Larkin Co., Inc. After his death in East Aurora in 1936, she moved to Ft. Lauderdale. her only surviving sister living in Finland.
