Education: graduated from Midway High School and was a talented athlete; earned degrees from Cisco Junior College, Baylor University, and Sam Houston State University

Military Service: U.S. Army

Work History: teacher and coach at Comanche, Yoakum, and Garwood, Texas; also a junior high Principal and the girl's basketball and track coach at McGregor ISD; remaining years at Midway ISD where he was appointed the High School Dean of Students and later the Midway High School Principal; and final position at Midway was as Assistant Superintendent; retired in 1987

Additional Information: lifelong love of sports continued after retirement as he and Mary followed the Texas Rangers and the Baylor Lady Bears basketball team

Preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Mann Battle; and sisters, Erma Wallace and Joyce Hobson

Survived by: step-daughters, Pam Mann Dominik and husband, Eddie, and Karen Mann Patterson; grandson, Alex Patterson; and nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends
