Anna is recorded as a widow in the 1880 census. In addition to William H. and Adaline, both age 10, the 1880 census (same location) records Calvin A., age 5, and Delia A., age 2. This family is recorded in the town of Pomona in Franklin County, Kansas in the 1885 Kansas state census.

Anna is recorded as age 52 with her sister, Lucinda Studebaker, 42, and her mother, Eliza Reed, 86, in the 1900 Pomona, Franklin County, Kansas census. She remarried to John A Shout 13 Nov 1904 in Franklin County, Kansas. (marriage index) They are recorded together in the 1905 state census, but Anna E. Shout is again recorded as a widow in the 1910 Pomona, Franklin County, Kansas census.

Anna Shout resided with her sister, Lucinda Studebaker, in the 1920 Pomona, Franklin County, Kansas census, but is recorded as age 83, the mother of Delia A. Mitchell (wife of Oliver Mitchell) in the 1930 Ontario, San Bernardino County, California census.

Anna's surname is recorded as Shout in the 1905, 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses. However, her family buried her with her first husband.

John A. Shout is recorded with his first wife, Harriet, both age 30 and both born in Pennsylvania, in the 1870 Shannon, Carroll County, Illinois census. They are recorded with 4 sons, the older 2 born in Pennsylvania and the younger 2 born in Illinois. Harry is recorded as age 8; Charles, 7; Frank, 4; & William, 3 months. John A. Shout is recorded as a harness maker. He had served in the 3rd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery and was enrolled as a Civil War veteran residing at Garlington, Kansas, which is now a ghost town of Franklin County, Kansas. He is recorded in a number of records from the 1890s in the GAR post at Pomona and is recorded without his wife and family in the 1895 Pomona, Franklin, Kansas state census. ---------- John's brother, James A Shout, served in the 191st Pennsylvania Infantry and died at the U.
