Daryl "Short" King died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at the Seneca House after a long illness. He was 78.
King was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Seneca, Mo., to Theodore and Maude King.
He married Donna Kohler of Seneca on April 11, 1952. She survives of Overland Park, Kan.
Survivors besides his wife were children; Kevin King, Barbie Severson, & Jerri King.
Brother of Norman T. King (Died Oct. 1, 1993), Julian King (Died Nov. 2, 2005), & Harold "Worry" King.
King graduated from Seneca High School in 1945 and thereafter joined the Navy and served aboard the USS ARD7. He served in the Pacific Island theatre during World War II.
He was a volunteer fire fighter in Seneca for 30 years and had served as a member of several organizations including the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge of Joplin. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Seneca Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Hopper and the Rev. Robert Casino officiating. Pallbearers will be Aaron Snider, David Scarberry, Roger King, David King and Kirk Lawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Leader, Bud White, Jimmy Turner, Bob Till, Martin Roetto, Nolan Scarberry, Bill Irvin, Grand Snider and Greg Jumper.
Visitation is scheduled for 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home in Seneca.
