John D Robbins, 97, Rushville, died at 11:42 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 1995 at Miller's Merry Manor in Rushville.
Born Jan. 31, 1897 in Switzerland County, he was the son of James Oliver and Isabel (Glenn) Robbins. He married Cora (Hill) Robbins on Sept. 10, 1922, and she survives. He lived in Richland Township (Rush County) for many years and worked at McQuay-Norris in Connersville for 25 years. He retired from there as a grinder. He was a World War I Navy veteran and member of the Clarksburg Covenant Church.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Thelma Robbins of Rushville, June Jenks of Armond Beach, Florida, Mrs. Leon (Rose) Voris of Laurel, and Mrs. George (Louise) Gordon of Fort Wayne; three sons, Harold Robbins of Orange Springs, Florida, Ernest Robbins of Clarksburg, and John Ed Robbins of Fort Wayne; one brother, the Rev. Marshall Robbins of Sabina, Ohio; one sister, Charlotte Baker of Clarksburg; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Thursday at Moster and Cox Mortuary in Rushville with the Rev. James Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Fisher Cemetery in Rush County, Indiana.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
