GEORGE GORDON d 1610 & of his wife MARGARET dau of Sir Alexander Bannerman of Elsick. Sir JOHN GORDON of Haddo son of the aforesaid George Gordon created Barton of Scotland in reward for his services 1642. Second in Command of King Charles I forces in the North, was taken prisoner by the Covenanters under the Marquis of Argyll at his house of Kelly 6 May 1644 & was beheaded at the Market Cross at Edinburgh and was buried in the Greyfriars Churchyard and of his wife MARY dau of Sir William Forbes of Tolquhoun.
