Polly Elizabeth Miller
August 1st, 1951 – June 26th, 2015

It is with sorrow that the Pittman and Miller Families announce the passing of beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, Polly Elizabeth Miller of Dallas. Ms. Miller was born in the summer of 1951 in El Dorado, Kansas, where she attended El Dorado High School and moved on to study music and voice at Wichita State University. A beautiful and talented woman, Polly competed in the 1971 Miss Kansas pageant, representing El Dorado. During her adult life, Polly worked in the hotel industry and as a volunteer coordinator in Washington, Oklahoma, Florida, and North Carolina but spent most of her time in Dallas, where she was particularly active in helping the homeless.

A consummate people person, Polly enjoyed talking with anyone and had a knack for making everyone feel like they were the center of attention. She cherished her son, Mason (age 39, of Austin), along with her daughter-in-law, Amanda (37), and her grandson, Davis (6). She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her second grandson, due in September. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde “Jack” Pittman of Richardson. She is survived by her mother, Shirley Pittman of Richardson and three brothers: Perry (of Clovis, California), Patrick (of Dallas), and Page Pittman (of Palm Harbor, Florida).

Ms. Miller will be honored at a memorial service to be held in the Upper Room (Room 362; above Cox Chapel) of Highland Park United Methodist Church (3300 Mockingbird Lane) in Dallas at 1 PM on Saturday, July 25th. A reception will immediately follow at the home of Shirley Pittman, Polly’s mother, at 504 Thompson Drive, Richardson, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages anyone interested to donate to the charity of their choice in her name but suggest donating to Family Gateway (www.familygateway.org), an organization that assists homeless families in the Dallas area. Polly worked for them as a volunteer coordinator.
