Bertha Mae Hurley McNair
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Crestwood Funeral Chapel for Bertha Mae Hurley McNair, 92, who died Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. McNair was born in Wedowee in Randolph County on Nov. 24, 1916. She had lived all her adult life in Gadsden and the last 15 years in Hokes Bluff. Mrs. McNair was an RN with 35 years of service at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was a dedicated nurse who loved helping people. She was Church of Christ by faith and a member of Glencoe Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; her husband, L. Lamar "Mac" McNair; and son, Charles H. McNair.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita (Kenneth) Williams; daughter-in-law, Sandra McNair; two granddaughters, Danielle (Jeremiah) Stiles and Alaina "Katie" Joyce; and three great-grandchildren, Dakota, Dylan and Addison Stiles. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved so much, and other friends.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Waggoner, Jeremiah Stiles, Kenneth Williams and Frank Hurley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Webb Sledge and the other doctors and the nurses who took such good care of her during her stay in ICU at Riverview Regional Hospital.
The viewing will precede the funeral from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday.
