Clarence Richard Wills, son of John & Henrietta (Herbst) Wills, was born August 31, 1921 in Butler, PA. He grew up in Chicago, IL and lived most of his life there.
Clarence proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as part of the Asiatic Fleet aboard the U.S.S. Trinity. On May 30, 1949, he and Helena E. Koszut were married in Chicago. They had four children: a daughter Elizabeth and sons Robert, Gary, and Bill.
Clarence was employed with the Chicago Fire Department for 32 years, retiring in 1984 as a Captain with the CFD Fire Prevention Bureau. He played racquetball for many years and was an avid coin collector all his life. In their retirement, Clarence and Helen were very involved in organizing Asiatic Fleet reunions. They also published quarterly U.S.S. Trinity newsletters for 20 years.
Clarence Wills passed away at home on March 13, 2012 at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife Helena; daughter Elizabeth (Clark) Staten; sons Robert (Debra), Gary (Diane) and Bill (Kathy) Wills; grandchildren Elizabeth and Lauren Staten, Louis, Leah, Rebecca, Jim and Emily Wills; many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by sisters Anna Stone, Martha Wegner, Emma Reinhardt, Clara Worley, Lena Wills; brothers Henry, Carl and Ferdinand Wills. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Worth, Chicago, IL.
